about

Described as “funky swamp rock” by music critic Lenny Stoute in a single-sentence non-review, Falling off the Edge of the World was a favourite of fans of 90s Toronto band Mystic Fools. The 10 original songs were honed on stage, at cover gigs, showcase nights, and openers for Blue Rodeo, Kim Mitchell, and April Wine at Summer’s home of rock and roll, the KEE to Bala.

The Fools spent the winter of ‘93-’94 recording the tracks and arranging for the mastering and pressing of the CD in time for another summer up north. But due to the impending closure of the recording studio, they didn’t have time to record the title track.

Fast forward 26 years: this new digital edition finally includes the title song, featuring original band members Geoff Hlibka (guitars), James Woods (vocals), Mark Sinclair (bass), and longtime collaborator Dave Patel (drums) (that’s Trevor Nicoll on the rest of the album).

Funky swamp rock, indeed.
